What we’re all about
Knights Upholstery Incorporated (also known as Knights Autoworks Inc. from our automotive interior aftermarket division) is a full service, custom interior and manufacturing upholstery shop. Formerly located in Milwaukee, WI. Our headquarters is now (Since 2010) nestled along Lake Michigan, just north of Green Bay in Marinette, WI.
We got our start customizing cars back in the 90’s in Detroit, Michigan. A design firm that leased its technologies to Ford, GM, and Chrysler requested some modified seats to be custom tailored. Side impact airbags didn’t exist, yet… We made several leather covers for a new prototype armrest design. They tested the covers by blowing up the airbag that was in the armrest! Eventually we patterned the component so the stitched seam would release the airbag evenly, in the same place, every time. The big three automakers must have liked it, because you can’t buy a new car without side airbags anymore. Pretty cool.
To this day people from companies all over the place call and ask us to build special upholstery parts and seats. We make unique interior options for super cars and yachts every day. Our field of service has grown extensively in the past 25 years. Knights Upholstery Inc. provides solutions to todays complicated upholstery applications and we restore classic auto interiors to new pristine condition. Basically, if it involves a needle and thread we can help!
